Recycling of Demolished Masonry Rubble as Coarse Aggregate in ...

Abstract. The recycling of demolished masonry rubble as coarse aggregate in new concrete represents an interesting possibility at a time when the cost of dumping such material is on the increase. With the number of readily accessible disposal sites around major cities in the world decreasing in recent years and disposal volume and maximum sizes of waste being restricted the cost of dumping construction and demolition debris has increased substantially over recent years.

Utilization of Demolished Waste as Coarse Aggregate in Concrete

Reusing these concrete wastes will help in saving landfill spaces in addition to more sustainability in natural resources. The objective of this study is to investigate the possibility of using old recycled concrete as coarse aggregate to make new concrete mixes and its effect on the evolution of the compressive strength of the new concrete mixes. Core samples for demolished concrete were tested to determine its compressive strength. The core test results can be thought of as aggregate ...

Recycled Construction Debris as Concrete Aggregate for ...

Recycled demolished building materials such as concrete can be considered as an alternative source of coarse aggregate for the production of new concrete and has the potential to help reduce the depletion of natural resources for aggregate.

Recycling of Brick Aggregate Concrete as Coarse Aggregate ...

Abstract. An extensive investigation was carried out for recycling of demolished brick aggregate concrete as coarse aggregate. For this demolished concrete blocks were collected from 33 different building sites of different ages and broken into pieces as coarse aggregate. Owing to the lack of availability of stone aggregate in Bangladesh most of the old structures are constructed with brick chips as coarse aggregate therefore the recycled aggregate investigated in this study is different ...

The Environmental Impact of Recycled Concrete

aggregate and the new concrete made with this recycled aggregate needs new cement. Sand gravel limestone and other materials many times are extracted from nature on a destructive way. The recycled aggregate production is about 5% of the total aggregates needed to supply the construction industry.

Recycled construction and demolition concrete waste as ...

Recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) is generally produced by the crushing of concrete rubble screening then removal of contaminants such as reinforcement paper wood plastics and gypsum. Concrete made with such recycled concrete aggregate is called recycled aggregate concrete (RAC).

Evaluation of recycled concrete aggregates for their ...

Abstract. Construction and demolition waste disposal is a major challenge in developing nations due to its ever increasing quantities. In this study the recycling potential of waste concrete as aggregates in construction activities was studied. The metal leaching from the recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) collected from the demolition site of a 50year old building was evaluated by performing three different leaching tests (compliance availability and Toxic Characteristic Leaching Procedure).

Use of aggregates from recycled construction and demolition ...

Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste constitutes a major portion of total solid waste production in the world and most of it is used in land fills. Research by concrete engineers has clearly suggested the possibility of appropriately treating and reusing such waste as aggregate in new concrete especially in lower level applications.

Recycled aggregates and recycled aggregate concrete second ...

Abstract. The extensive but fragmented research on recycled concrete aggregates and recycled aggregate concrete which has been carried out in various parts of the world from 1945 to 1985 has been collated to form a comprehensive state-of-the-art document. A thorough analysis of the data has been made leading to a guide to the production and evaluation of recycled concrete aggregates as well as the design production and use of recycled aggregate concrete.
